So, my family is talking about taking a trip to Tacoma to experience the Hotel Murano. Great idea. And even better news is that the whole family gets to go – including canine family member Daffy. The neighbors generously offered to dog-sit, but it was decided to bring him along for the ride. Their message to me was, “Thank you Provenance Hotels for the pet deal – you shine in my eyes!” Rumor has it that in Grandpa Dale’s bell desk (lower drawer/left side, to be exact) doggy treats can be found.

Sure, there was a dog-wading pool, plenty of pups and pooches and lots of, er, sniffing around. But Woofstock ‘08, which occurred Sunday the 3rd at Todd Field was not a For Dogs Only event. Cats, kittens, bunnies and ferrets also joined in the fun, getting their cute on at the Adoption Village as they attempted to land a spot in a good home. Humans were there too, as evidenced by live music from the WiseCracker Band, the VZ Valley Boys, and Starstruck. Now, this was an event to yelp about. Next year, I’m so there.

Maybe it’s true that Western Civilization as we know it going the way of the dodo and the $.29 cheeseburger. But one thing we’re getting right is our treatment of pets. Here at the Hotel Murano, we’re totally pet friendly. If you show up here with your canine partner, just ask me or Dale or anyone else at the front desk about pet-related activities (or practical matters, like, where, uh, to walk your dog), and we’ll help you out. And if that isn’t enough, you should stick around town and participate in the Top of Tacoma McKinley Street Festival and its Animalocity Pet Parade on August 11. If you’re feeling really creative, you can create a water bowl and enter it in a juried art contest. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dugan Foundation, which helps local animals with their birth control needs and other issues.
peace,
Josh
