Hotel Murano’s Biggest Sculpture Gets Built with a Little Help from its Friends
Posted by Brian on January 22nd, 2008
As mentioned a few posts ago, the piece de resistance at our hotel will be a 104-foot tall Costas Varotsos sculpture out on the front sidewalk. The City of Tacoma feels the pride that this landmark will bring to the city as well, and so we are thrilled to announce that the City Council has decided to help us create and install the piece. Every little bit helps. Thanks to all of the local citizenry for your support!

Whats hotel murano doing for local artists? Just curious
We have a few artists from the Pacific Northwest in our galleries. Actually, 10 of the 45 are either originally from the Northwest or have ties to it. William Morris, Dante Marioni, Martin Blank, Ross Richmond, and Preston Singletary all show their art here.
The hotel also supports the Tacoma art community by choosing the Tacoma Art Museum and the Museum of Glass as its nonprofit partners. In fact, we are hosting a fund-raising event here in March!

Thanks Erik,
We appreciate the support. The whole process of renovation has been great to watch. I’m happy to see that its being received so well by the city.
